November 2010 Events!

It's hard to believe that November is here already and December (and the holidays!) are right around the corner! We have lots of fun events happening this month!

This past Saturday, November 6, we had our first round of Playmobil National Day of Play! Be Beep was chosen by the Head of Sales at Playmobil to participate in this special day and we were EXTREMELY honored to be chosen! In our excitement, we got the date wrong! Hard to imagine we would make a mistake right?? Not! Therefore, we decided we would just have TWO Playmobil days. The official date is Saturday November 20 and our first "dry-run" was this past weekend! It was so much fun! We had Zesto's corndogs (delicious) and Baskin Robbins ice cream (always a hit!). This weekend, Saturday November 13, we are celebrating Neighborhood Toy Store Day hosted by ASTRA (American Specialty Toy Retailing Association). This nation-wide event highlights the importance of local independent toy stores on children, families, and the communities in which they are located.

According to ASTRA's website: "Shopping at neighborhood and independent retailers not only increases consumer choice, it also preserves jobs and local character. According to the 3/50 Project, for every ...$100 spent in local, independently-owned stores, $68 returns to the community in the form of taxes, salaries, charitable contributions and more–in contrast with only $43 dollars when consumers spend their money at a national chain."
 
This day not only celebrates the importance of local toy stores, but also YOU as the customer! We appreciate each and every customer that walks through our door and this day is just as much for you as it is for us as a store! So come celebrate the joy of play with us! The following weekend, November 20, we will have the "official" Playmobil National Day of Play! All Playmobil will be 20% that day and we will have fun Playmobil games and giveaways for all the Playmobil lovers out there! We are so excited to be a part of this special day!

Rooftop Rythms, 9/23/2010

Rooftop Rhythms is this Thursday September 23 from 5 PM to 9 PM on the rooftop of Richland Mall! The featured bands will be: Men of Distinction and The Voltage Brothers! Rumor has it, there will be some great shagging music! Rooftop Rhythms is put on every year by the Forest Acres Restaurant and Merchant Association (FARMA). This is a great opportunity to come out and see all of your favorite Forest Acres places and maybe even discover some new ones! One of the best things about Rooftop Rhythms is the "Taste of Forest Acres." Food will be served from some of your favorite Forest Acres restaurants and will be priced from $1 to $4! This is also a celebration of City of Forest Acres' 75th Birthday! The first 400 people will receive FREE CUPCAKES! What's not to like about that?! There will also be some great giveaways and prizes!

Be Beep is a proud member of FARMA and will have a booth at Rooftop Rhythms! We will have art activities for your little one and we'll be sno cones as well (which should be interesting!)

Welcome to our blog!

Welcome to Be Beep a toy shop's blog! We are excited to launch our blog and would love to have you read about store happenings, new products, and other exciting news!

This Tuesday marked our last Be Beep Bingo of the summer! We loved playing Bingo all summer long and enjoyed it as much as the children did! Now all of our Bingo players are coming in to spend their "Be Beep quarters" and we LOVE seeing them all! It's very rewarding watching the ones that have saved their quartes all summer to save up for something they really want! We will miss them and look forward to next summer!

A GREAT item we received this week was children's Tervis Tumblers! We were so excited when they arrived and could not wait to put them out (we got some weird looks from the UPS man)! We have the cutest designs for boys and girls, from Spiderman to the South Carolina flags to flowers to peace signs! They are the 10 oz size and come with the lid for the ultimate on the go cup! They're going quickly so be sure to come by and see them soon!
